Home care questions, answered plainly

Answers about non-medical home care, Medicaid, family caregivers, personal care, schedules and starting services.

What is non-medical home care?

Non-medical home care provides assistance with personal care, daily activities, companionship, meals, light housekeeping, mobility and other approved routines. It does not replace nursing, therapy or medical treatment.

Who can receive services?

Services may support adults, seniors and people with disabilities who need assistance at home. Eligibility and covered services depend on the participant's program, assessment, authorization and payer requirements.

Does Compassion Home Care accept Medicaid?

Yes, Compassion Home Care accepts Medicaid waiver participants. The agency must confirm eligibility, authorization and current plan participation before covered services begin.

Can I choose my caregiver?

Participant preference is important. Depending on the program, a participant may request a family member, friend or trusted person, or Compassion Home Care may help match an agency caregiver based on needs and availability.

Can a family member be paid to provide care?

Some relatives or trusted individuals may qualify. Program rules may restrict certain relationships or legal roles. Approval, hours and services are determined by the applicable program or health plan.

Do caregivers receive background checks and training?

Compassion Home Care follows applicable screening, background-check, training and competency requirements before assigning caregivers to duties.

Do you provide physical therapy?

Our core service is non-medical home care. Caregivers may support an authorized written mobility or home routine, but they are not physical therapists. Licensed therapy must be provided through an appropriately authorized provider.

Do you provide overnight or live-in care?

Overnight monitoring and live-in or extended-hour support may be available depending on the participant's needs, authorized hours, program rules and staffing.

Which languages are available?

The agency can support communication in English, Spanish, Albanian and Italian.

How do I start services?

Call (215) 550-3039 or submit the care request form. The team will review the participant's location, needs, coverage and next steps.
